The Future of Fashion: The Innovators At 2012 MBFWA!

This show has always been a glimpse at the future of Australian fashion with this year's graduates to come out of the Sydney Institute Fashion Design Studio keeping up that high standard. The institutes notable alumni include Dion Lee, Alex Perry, Zimmerman and Akira. Award winner Kaylene Milner who is off to work with Diane Von Fursenburg displayed real talent. It was ripe with detailed graphic prints, fur and leather sectionals and pops of bright colour. An extremely innovative line.

Carlie Waterman stood out with intricate headpieces and a collection with a mix of of textures and textiles. The styles were filled with laser cut lace, sequins, gathered silk dresses and skirts, peplums and layered silks with my favourite being a bold paisley shorts suit!

Cynthia Thai's collection was a luxe artwork. It included styles that were dripping with chandelier sequinned embellishments, delicate bright silk flowers, sheer vs knit, dangling spiked skirts,  paisley and cutouts.
