MBFWA 2014 Runway Report: Ginger & Smart and Michael Lo Sordo

Held at a beautiful off-site show space, Ginger & Smart's new SS14 Dualism runway was inspired by the concept of multi-layered photography and contrasting elements. A collections that explores fluidity vs structure, strong and long silhouettes combined with that eyre of modern sophistication that Ginger & Smart always delivers. Playing tricks on our eyes, their latest prints are both multi-dimensional and multi-textured. A rich red lace was the piece on everyone's lips whilst the subtle full skirts, crocodile skin prints and covetable accessories caught our attention.

A MBFWA favourite, Michael Lo Sordo's classic designs have skyrocketed him to young designer stardom. Stepping outside of his usual tailoring and clean lines, we were pleasantly surprised by his use of flowing silks, fluid shapes and and a smart sense of the female silhouette that perfectly embodies the collection's boyish femininity. Filled with pastel gelati colours, he contrasts this softer edge with fierce textured crops and strong 3D structures on the catwalk. Styled to perfection, Michael Lo Sordo came out a clear winner with his surprise designs high on the crowd's favourites list.
