Hot MEns HAIR TIPS FROM STYLIST danIEL cord of EDwards and co

Not our usual content but we thought we should include something for the guys every now and again! A good mens haircut is a style accessory you wear everyday no matter what, so having the best advice when it comes to picking the right look is crucial.
We were lucky enough to steal the inside scoop on the latest mens hair trends and must-have products for the season from Daniel Cord of award-winning salon Edwards and Co.

What are the key trends you’re seeing heading into this spring/summer season?

We are seeing three main trends emerging. Firstly, medium length hair with loads of texture. Men are ditching the super long hair and going for a shorter more textured look that can be quite versatile in terms of styling. For this look, the sides can be kept longer, scissor-short or a super low fade.  Secondly, the textured crop. A super textured version of the famous “crop”. Men are partnering this style with platinum hair and a high taper. And last but certainly not least, the classic crew cut — for a short and sweet, low maintenance hairstyle. I’ve noticed a lot of men are going back to basics with either a medium or high fade.

What are your top 3 tips when picking a new hairstyle?

Decide whether you want something low maintenance with minimal styling or something with a bit more of a styled finish. Consider the texture of your hair. If your hair is curly/wavy and you don’t want to be smoothing your hair out straight everyday, go for something that can worn versatile.  Inspiration is key. Find an inspirational visual that will be your guide, I find that instagram is the quickest, easiest way to browse looks. A favourite of mine is @dannycox_hair for some modern hairstyles.

What would be your must-have hair product recommendations?

  • Oribe: Matte Waves Texture Lotion - This is my favourite product at the moment. It can be worn in any hair type to create a super natural looking, textured finish with lightweight hold. You can heat style it in, air dry or run it through dry hair.
  • Kevin Murphy: Super Gloo - This firm hold gel is perfect for that sleek look, or for a more structured, defined style. This one works best in dry hair.
  • Oribe: Swept Up Volume Powder Spray - Perfect for fine hair, or super limp hair that needs a little bit of shape and volume. You can rework this product throughout the day by massaging it in to re-plump and shape the hair
